Conquer the Shadow of the Giant
Standing in the shadow of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru dares you to underestimate it. But this dormant volcano is no warm-up—it's a beast of its own, demanding grit, endurance, and an unshakable will. At 4,566 meters (14,980 ft), it may not be the tallest, but it's wilder, steeper, and more untamed, rewarding those who rise to the challenge with breathtaking views and a climb that few dare to take on.

The Savage Ascent
No Mercy, No Shortcuts.
Meru rises fast and steep, with brutal switchbacks and exposed ridgelines that separate thrill-seekers from the rest.
This Trail Bites Back.
The climb demands grit, lung power, and legs of steel—because every step is a battle against the mountain.
Wild From Start to Summit.
Hike through thick rainforest teeming with giraffes and buffalo, then scale rock faces where the only sound is the wind howling past.
A Summit That Takes Your Breath—Literally.
Reach Socialist Peak at dawn, standing on a jagged ridgeline with Kilimanjaro towering in the distance like a silent giant.

The Ultimate Test Before Kili
Think you're ready for the big one? Meru is the perfect training ground—steep, rugged, and unforgiving. Many climbers use Mount Meru as an acclimatization trek before attempting Kilimanjaro, but make no mistake—this mountain demands respect in its own right.
What makes Mount Meru special:
- Less Crowds: With fewer climbers, this is your chance to take on the mountain in near solitude, surrounded by untouched wilderness.
- Diverse Ecosystems: From jungle to summit ridge, you'll pass through multiple climate zones in a shorter timeframe than Kilimanjaro.
- Wildlife Encounters: Unlike other climbs, Meru is inside Arusha National Park, meaning zebras, giraffes, and even elephants might cross your path.
- Technical Challenge: The final ascent includes some scrambling along an exposed ridge, adding an element of adventure not found on Kilimanjaro.
- Kilimanjaro Views: From the summit, enjoy unparalleled views of Kilimanjaro towering in the distance.
The Mount Meru Experience
Our Mount Meru treks are typically 3-4 days, with accommodation in mountain huts along the route. Here's what you can expect:
- Day 1: Begin at Momella Gate, trek through forest to Miriakamba Hut (2,500m)
- Day 2: Ascend to Saddle Hut (3,550m) with an optional hike to Little Meru
- Day 3: Summit day! Early morning start to reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) for sunrise, then descend
- Day 4: (Optional) Buffer day or early finish with descent to Momella Gate
This isn't just a hike. It's a reckoning. It's you vs. the mountain. It's pure adrenaline, pure challenge, pure adventure. Will you rise, or will Meru send you back down?
